Khankandi to welcome leading turkologists for international scientific conference
A special international scientific conference will be held at Karabakh University in Khankandi as part of the Turkic World Week, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Culture Farid Jafarov announced.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of Turkic World Week, which marks the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, Jafarov said a wide-ranging program of events has been planned throughout the week in both Baku and the Karabakh region, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
"Panel discussions, academic sessions, artistic compositions dedicated to the First Turkological Congress, documentary screenings, concerts, and other events will be organized. In addition, an international scientific conference will take place at Karabakh University in Khankandi, with participation expected from prominent Turkologists, scholars, and researchers from across the Turkic world," he said.
Jafarov noted that the commemorative events are designed to celebrate the legacy of the landmark 1926 congress while strengthening academic and cultural cooperation among Turkic nations.
The deputy minister also emphasized Baku's renewed role as a centre of intellectual and scientific exchange for the Turkic world.
"Today, just as a century ago, Baku has once again become a hub of science and thought for the Turkic world. Today, scholars from more than 20 countries are gathered here. Among them are rectors and heads of leading universities and research institutes, as well as representatives of the Organization of Turkic States, TURKSOY, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, the Turkic Academy, and the Turkic Fund," Jafarov said.
Turkic World Week is being held to commemorate the centenary of the First Turkological Congress, bringing together academics, researchers, cultural figures, and officials from across the Turkic world to discuss the future of Turkology and deepen scholarly and cultural cooperation.
