Kremlin denies any agreement with Ukraine on air ceasefire
Russia has not reached any agreement with Ukraine to establish an air ceasefire, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on August 28.
“No agreements have been reached on this matter. I repeat: everything that can be discussed in the search for ways to reach a settlement must be discussed discreetly,” Peskov told reporters at a briefing, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The remarks come amid reports that the Kremlin was considering a potential concession to US President Donald Trump, which could include a temporary air truce with Ukraine. Bloomberg wrote on August 5 that Russian officials were exploring a pause on air strikes involving drones and missiles as a de-escalation gesture, potentially tied to a visit by US envoy Steve Witkoff.
The report indicated that any such agreement would require Ukraine’s participation and was seen as a last-minute effort to avoid secondary US sanctions, although expectations for success were reportedly low.
