Kyiv grateful as Baku sends new energy aid to support Ukrainians in harsh winter

30 January 2026 16:04

Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratiuk, has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for a new vital energy aid to Ukraine.

Since January 20, Azerbaijan has sent two humanitarian convoys to Ukraine carrying energy equipment necessary to maintain the stable operation of the power system during the winter months, Kondratiuk said in a post on her Facebook account, Caliber.Az reports.

“We are sincerely grateful to Azerbaijan for its very timely and extremely important assistance this winter, as well as for its contribution to the restoration of Ukraine’s energy sector,” Kondratyuk said, highlighting the importance of international solidarity in the face of ongoing challenges to Ukraine’s energy security.

She noted that Ukraine received 11 generators and five transformers, over 27,000 metres of cables and wires, as well as 12 low-voltage panels. The total value of the delivered equipment is approximately $1 million. The shipment of humanitarian aid was organised by the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan in accordance with a decree from President Ilham Aliyev.

Kondratiuk emphasised that friendly Azerbaijan has not for the first time provided humanitarian support to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. The total volume of Azerbaijan's assistance, including support for restoration and reconstruction, has already exceeded $45 million.
