Kyrgyzstan stands for Trans-Caspian International Transport Route
Kyrgyzstan plans to use the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor).
Deputy Chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Bakyt Torobaev has said that Kyrgyzstan plans to use the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) for transportation by vehicles and trains from Kyrgyzstan and China to the European countries, Report informs citing the Kyrgyz media.
Torobaev made these remarks at the Investors’ Forum for EU-Central Asia Transport Connectivity.
He noted that this path will become another basis for uniting the regions and ensuring not only their economic growth, but also economic security.
“President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov attaches great importance to strengthening the transit potential of our country and region. We are actively working on the construction of new roads and modernisation of existing transport routes to integrate into big international transport networks. Our goal is to create a sustainable and efficient infrastructure that will contribute to the development of the Kyrgyz economy and strengthening trade relations between Europe and Central Asia,” Torobaev said.
The Middle Corridor was created in February 2014 with the corresponding organisations of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Georgia. Later, Ukraine, Romania and Poland joined the project. Currently, the route starts from the Chinese-Kazakh border and passes through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Georgia to Europe. A single tariff has been created for the entire route. The “single window” principle is used.
