Lankaran — Azerbaijan's “fruit basket” Euronews story
The European news giant Euronews, which recently opened a branch office in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku, has prepared a short-read story on the country’s Lankaran Region, highlighting its rich nature after the outlet’s journalist Anca Ulea travelled to the region. Caliber.Az reprints the story.
Lankaran, a fertile region along Azerbaijan’s southern coast, is gaining attention for its abundant orchards, subtropical climate and untouched forests, a landscape locals proudly call the country’s “fruit basket.”
Lankaran’s subtropical climate makes it one of Azerbaijan’s most abundant fruit-growing regions.
At Citrus Valley Plantation, visitors can stroll through bright orchards, picking mandarins, lemons and fragrant feijoa straight from the trees. A hands-on marmalade class shows how kiwi preserves are cooked slowly over a wood fire, a local tradition passed down through generations.
In the Talish mountains, ancient forests, misty paths and remote villages like Sim reveal a way of life shaped by nature, where residents farm, keep bees and welcome travellers with warm hospitality and freshly brewed black tea.
