Media: Armenian government shake-up possible following ruling party's congress
Personnel changes in the Armenian government may be on the horizon after the congress of the ruling Civil Contract party, scheduled for September 20, Yerevan-based Hraparak daily writes.
“The ruling party sees the congress as an opportunity to outline their vision for the future, effectively marking the start of the election campaign. Prime Minister Pashinyan’s subsequent actions are expected to follow this logic,” the publication noted, according to Caliber.Az.
There are unconfirmed reports suggesting that Araik Harutyunyan, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, could be appointed as Deputy Prime Minister. It remains unclear whether he would replace Tigran Khachatryan or Mher Grigoryan.
According to Hraparak, Harutyunyan has been persistently urging Pashinyan that one of the officials responsible for economic policy should be his brother-in-law, a member of the Civil Contract party. Currently, both deputy prime ministers hold non-partisan positions.
