Media forum in Astrakhan highlights Azerbaijan's rebuilding efforts in Karabakh
Images of destroyed Karabakh during the years of its occupation by Armenia were shown within the framework of the IX Caspian Media Forum in Russia's Astrakhan city.
Baku TV correspondent Gunay Namazova presented footage of the de-occupied territories during her speech at a section of the Caspian Media Forum, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The footage depicted the large-scale destruction caused by the Armenian occupants over the past 30 years. She noted that Azerbaijan is now carrying out active large-scale reconstruction and construction works. Among the objects being restored, special attention is paid to the cultural and religious heritage of Karabakh.
Anastasia Lavrina, Deputy Chairperson of the Russian Community of Azerbaijan, also spoke at the Caspian Media Forum session.
Lavrina also noted that during the 30 years of occupation of its lands, Azerbaijan did not receive sufficient access to global information resources in order to convey truthful information about the Karabakh problem.
Misinformation was spread in the world media that did not fully reflect the real picture. She also emphasized that the conclusion of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia contributes to the further opening of transport communications and even greater development of the entire region.
