Media: US, Iran close to deal on unblocking ships in Strait of Hormuz

Washington and Tehran may reach an agreement within hours on resolving the issue of vessels blocked in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Al Arabiya.

Sources said an understanding has been reached regarding easing the blockade in exchange for the gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

They say intensive contacts are currently underway on the issue, and a breakthrough in resolving the problem of ships stranded in the strait is expected within hours.

The US President Donald Trump had made it clear on May 6 that he believed a deal with Iran was “very possible,” but threatened to resume strikes on the country if negotiations failed.
