Milli Majlis condemns European Parliament's anti-Azerbaijani resolution

The Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan has criticized the European Parliament for what it perceives as an anti-Azerbaijani stance, following the adoption of a resolution on October 24 titled “On the situation in Azerbaijan, violation of human rights and international law and relations with Armenia.”

“The European Parliament, which positions itself as a representative of European democracy, has once again begun to criticize Azerbaijan while seemingly ignoring pressing issues within Europe,” a statement by the Milli Majlis says, Caliber.Az reports.

According to the statement, the European Parliament has chosen to reveal its “anti-Azerbaijani sentiment” by making “absurd allegations and accusations” founded on false information. The statement asserts that the resolution disrespects Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, while attempting to interfere in its internal affairs. It also notes a preferential treatment towards Armenia, encouraging its militarism, which the Milli Majlis argues could fuel revanchist tendencies and reignite conflict in the region.

The statement emphasizes that the European Parliament has shown bias against Azerbaijan's initiatives aimed at fostering peace, stability, and cooperation on both global and regional levels. It expresses disappointment that European lawmakers politicize critical issues like climate change, using them as instruments against Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, the Milli Majlis views the resolution as indicative of deep-rooted corruption and bribery within the European Parliament. It contends that the resolution is driven by false narratives promoted by France, Armenia, and the Armenian lobby, suggesting that it serves as compensation for material benefits received.
