Minister: Monitoring finds Armenians deliberately destroying Azerbaijani cultural monuments
The occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia had a devastating impact on the country’s cultural heritage.
The remarks came from the Azerbaijani Culture Minister Anar Karimov at an international scientific conference on "The role of UNESCO conventions for the protection of cultural property and aspects of their application" jointly organized by the Azerbaijan National Commission for UNESCO, International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) Azerbaijan National Committee and ADA University’s Institute for Development and Diplomacy, Report informs.
According to him, the monitoring carried out in Azerbaijan’s liberated lands revealed that cultural heritage monuments were deliberately destroyed and many historical monuments were intentionally altered by Armenia.
“Representatives of international organizations who visited the liberated territories also witnessed this,” Karimov added.
