Minister: SGC strengthens Azerbaijan's positions as important energy supplier to Europe

Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov has said that the Southern Gas Corridor, fully commissioned in late 2020, had further strengthened Azerbaijan's positions as an important energy supplier to Europe, as well as the partnership among the participating countries.

Jabbarov made the remarks in a meeting with Italy’s Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, who is on a visit to Baku, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.

The Azerbaijani minister noted that Azerbaijan plays an important role in ensuring Europe’s energy security.

Jabbarov said Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of relations with Italy, strengthening partnership between the countries, the development of trade and economic cooperation with Italy, one of Azerbaijan’s main trade partners.

Information on the favourable business climate in Azerbaijan was provided during the meeting. Azerbaijan urged Italian companies to establish active partnership.

Urso noted the expansion of cooperation in the field of the non-oil economy, expressed the interest of Italian companies in projects being implemented in the liberated territories, and shared opinion on the development of relations.
