MoD: Three Azerbaijani servicemen killed as result of Armenian provocation

The Azerbaijani Defence Ministry has reported the death of three servicemen as a result of an Armenian provocation in the Lachin direction.

The press service of the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az that on April 11, about 16:20, units of the Armenian armed forces fired upon Azerbaijani Army positions in the direction of Lachin region from their positions in the direction of Digh village in Gorus region, using various caliber weapons.

Later, the Armenian side continued to fire mortars and large-caliber weapons at the Azerbaijani positions. As a result of the vigilance of the servicemen, the provocation of the Armenian side was resolutely prevented and the firing positions were suppressed.

During the retaliatory measures taken by the Azerbaijani army, the units of Armenian armed forces have suffered significant losses.

At present there is a relative calmness in this direction and the operational situation is under full control of the Azerbaijani military units. The servicemen of the Azerbaijani army Zalov Vidadi Nizami oglu, Hasanov Elshad Gabil oglu and Tagiyev Sabuhi Gunduz oglu died while preventing the provocation of the Armenian side.

“The leadership of the Ministry of Defence expresses deep condolences to the relatives of our martyred military personnel,” the ministry emphasised.
