Moscow: Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran propel expansion of North-South transport corridor
Russia, Azerbaijan, and Iran are advancing the expansion of the North-South International Transport Corridor (ITC), particularly focusing on the railway section, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakhrova said.
At briefing, she expressed that Russia is pleased with the unwavering commitment of all three countries to progressively enhance the corridor’s capacity, Caliber.Az reports referencing foreign media.
“The road route has, by the way, been operational for a long time and is functioning successfully. The volume of cargo traffic has been steadily increasing year-on-year,” Zakhrova said.
“We are now working on creating seamless railway logistics on the western stretch of the corridor. This will become possible after the construction of the section between the cities of Resht and Astara is completed. This section will be 162 kilometres long.”
