MP: Armenian diaspora pressures foreign experts supporting Azerbaijan
Foreign experts who express support for Azerbaijan face pressure and persecution from the Armenian diaspora, Azerbaijani MP Fariz Ismayilzada has said.
Ismayilzada made the remarks during public hearings on the role of NGOs in the process of Azerbaijanis returning to Western Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
"The Armenian diaspora sends letters to the universities where they work, pressures departments, and seeks their closure. Therefore, we must protect our foreign friends and experts, including through embassies," the parliamentarian stated.
He also underlined the need to raise awareness about the return process.
"History has seen cases where peoples were deported but later returned to their ancestral lands. Academic articles and research are highly valued in international academic circles, so we should increase their number. Moreover, we should strive to establish academic departments in foreign universities," Ismayilzada added.
