NATO deputy chief visits Azerbaijan for talks on security and cooperation
NATO’s Deputy Secretary General, Radmila Šekerinska, has paid an official visit to Azerbaijan, holding meetings focused on security cooperation and the alliance’s partnership with Baku.
Šekerinska visited ADA University in the capital, where she met the institution’s vice-rector and member of parliament, Fariz Ismayilzade, as well as faculty members and students, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Discussions centred on NATO’s core missions, its role in maintaining international peace and security, and cooperation with Azerbaijan under the Partnership for Peace programme.
During the visit, Azerbaijan’s contribution to NATO-led peacekeeping operations was highlighted, including its support to allied forces during the final evacuation phase of the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan. The country’s role in contributing to Europe’s energy security was also noted.
Ismailzade briefed the NATO deputy secretary general on ADA University’s academic programmes, international partnerships and initiatives aimed at developing higher education.
Šekerinska also toured the university’s campus and facilities as part of her visit to Azerbaijan.
