North Macedonia approves transfer of Mi-24 helicopters to Ukraine
The General Staff of North Macedonia agreed on the transfer of 12 Mi-24 helicopters to Ukraine.
This was stated by the Minister of Defence of North Macedonia Slavjanka Petrovska in an interview with Alsat TV channel, RBC-Ukraine reports.
She noted that North Macedonia is ready to transfer 12 Mi-24 helicopters purchased in 2001 from Ukraine. At the same time, the country will acquire new Western helicopters.
“All the equipment that has now been transferred, except for the fact that it is at the request of the Ukrainians, they need it and this is equipment that the Ukrainian army skillfully uses. This is equipment, which, in accordance with our plans, is ending its service life,” the minister said.
According to the defence minister, the transfer of Ukrainian helicopters will not weaken the defense capability of Macedonia, since some of the helicopters have not been used for some time.
Petrovska explains that the decision on the transfer was made by the General Staff, now the government should consider the issue.
