Official: Azerbaijan, Georgia share daily struggle for sovereignty
Safeguarding sovereignty and independence is a daily struggle and the most important goal for both Azerbaijan and Georgia, Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Nino Tsilosani said.
She made the remarks at the international parliamentary conference “The Constitution as the Basis for the Independence and Sovereignty of States in the Modern World,” held at the Milli Majlis, noting that foreign interference contradicts national sovereignty, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“Such interference in legitimately elected governments necessitates the struggle for sovereignty and independence,” she emphasised.
Tsilosani added that the necessary steps are being taken to strengthen Azerbaijan–Georgia cooperation.
The international parliamentary conference “The Constitution as the Basis of Independence and Sovereignty of States in the Modern World” at Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis marks the 30th anniversary of the country’s Constitution, a cornerstone of its post-Soviet statehood.
Adopted through a national referendum on November 12, 1995, the Constitution established the legal and institutional framework for a democratic and sovereign republic following Azerbaijan’s 1991 independence from the Soviet Union.
The conference focuses on the role of constitutions in safeguarding national sovereignty and independence, strengthening democratic governance, and promoting the rule of law as a foundation for stable statehood in the modern world.
