Official: Belarus participates in reconstruction of Azerbaijan's liberated lands

Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov said Belarusian state institutions and companies have begun participating in reconstruction projects in Karabakh and East Zangezur, underscoring the growing strategic partnership between Baku and Minsk.

Speaking at a reception in Baku marking Belarus' Independence Day, Sharifov said regular high-level meetings and active political dialogue had helped maintain strong momentum in bilateral cooperation, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

"Today this work has already begun," Sharifov said, referring to Belarus' involvement in rebuilding territories that Azerbaijan regained control over following the 2020 conflict.

According to the deputy prime minister, a joint Belarusian-Azerbaijani venture to manufacture lifts and escalators is being established in the Aghdam Industrial Park, with jointly produced lifts already being installed in newly constructed buildings in Aghdam.

He added that the two countries had also launched work on creating a modern construction complex in the village of Gizilkend in Azerbaijan's Aghdam district.

Sharifov said relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus had developed steadily since diplomatic ties were established in 1993, with the two countries elevating cooperation to a high level of mutually beneficial partnership.

He credited the mutual trust and political will of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko for deepening bilateral ties in recent years.

Sharifov also said Lukashenko's 2024 state visit to Azerbaijan had reaffirmed the strategic nature of relations and led to decisions aimed at further strengthening cooperation and identifying new areas for joint projects.
