Opposition MP: Increasing military budget alone not to solve Armenia’s defence issues
Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has emphasized the ever-changing nature of warfare, stressing the need for Armenia to adapt its military strategies to current global trends.
Abrahamyan underscored that modern conflicts have evolved in both methods and tactics, affecting defensive, counter-offensive, and offensive operations alike, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
"The way a country conducts warfare today is vastly different from how it did 10 years ago, ranging from combat techniques to specialized operations," the MP stated.
He noted the growing importance of drones, long-range precision systems, mobility, and modern defence structures, as these technologies significantly alter the nature of war.
Reflecting on Armenia’s involvement in military operations over the past four years, including in the Karabakh region, Abrahamyan stressed that a detailed analysis of these conflicts reveals vulnerabilities in Armenia's military and highlights the need for practical reforms.
"Without addressing these specifics, any incomplete or haphazard changes will be futile. Even if the military budget grows by 10–15% annually, no major issues will be resolved," he warned.
The MP called for a comprehensive reevaluation of traditional combat principles and a focus on new priorities to strengthen Armenia’s military capabilities.
