Over 200 international observers register for Azerbaijan's parliamentary elections
Azerbaijan is gearing up for snap parliamentary elections scheduled for September 1, with a notable presence of international oversight.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that a total of 228 international observers from 43 countries and 24 organizations have been registered to monitor the electoral process, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
During a recent meeting, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov highlighted the significance of this international involvement, which aims to ensure a transparent and fair election.
In addition to international observers, the CEC has registered 38,744 local observers—5,621 of whom are affiliated with the CEC, while 33,123 have been registered in district election commissions.
The elections will also see the participation of 399,050 voters who are internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Panahov noted that these IDP voters will cast their ballots at 574 polling stations across the country.
