Pakistan stages flash mob to thank Azerbaijan for support PHOTO

15 May 2025 09:17

Pakistan has once again expressed its gratitude to Azerbaijan for its support and solidarity.

A large-scale patriotic event was held as part of this expression of thanks, organised by the MUSLIM Institute under the leadership of Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali, a well-known friend of Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports.

The event took place at the mausoleum complex of Sultan Bahu and drew thousands of participants, who expressed appreciation to the Armed Forces of Pakistan and to allied nations for their support during the recent armed conflict with India.

The central symbol of the event was the formation of a human model of the J-10C fighter jet, which, according to the organisers, played a key role in “shattering Indian arrogance” and “destroying French Rafale fighter jets.” The gathering echoed with patriotic chants of “Pakistan Zindabad!” (“Long live Pakistan!”).

Participants also formed the words THANK YOU AZERBAIJAN, expressing gratitude to Azerbaijan for its support during the conflict.

“This is not just a tribute to our heroes and martyrs — it’s a powerful message to our enemies: we are united like an unbreakable wall in the defence of our homeland,” said MUSLIM Institute Chairman Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali. He also sharply criticised India’s leadership, accusing it of attacks on mosques and the killing of civilians. “The real threat in India comes from the ruling BJP party and the radical groups RSS and Shiv Sena. As long as these forces remain in power, the entire region will continue to suffer from instability and tension,” he added.

The organisers emphasised that Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Pakistan are bound by fraternal ties and consistently stand as one front on key issues of regional security.

The flash mob follows a series of high-level diplomatic gestures highlighting the close relationship between the two countries. Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, in Islamabad. During the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan for their steadfast solidarity. He emphasised that Azerbaijan’s principled stance reflected the enduring bond of friendship and brotherhood between the two nations.

This show of appreciation also comes in the wake of a formal declaration by the Azerbaijani government on May 9. In a statement issued through its embassy in Islamabad, Azerbaijan reiterated its full support for Pakistan in the face of Indian aggression. The embassy underscored Baku’s commitment to standing resolutely with Pakistan during what it described as a time of heightened challenge.

The recent flare-up in violence between India and Pakistan stemmed from the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Kashmir, which left 26 civilians dead. India blamed Pakistan-based militants for the assault, a charge Islamabad firmly denied. The incident triggered a cycle of military escalation, including airstrikes and missile exchanges across the Line of Control.

The conflict raised alarms in the international community and was eventually halted through a ceasefire brokered by the United States. Despite the pause in hostilities, tensions remain high as both countries continue to issue stern warnings and reassert their claims of sovereignty.
