Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif highlighted Azerbaijan’s progress toward peace with Armenia and praised the country’s military achievements during a speech at the military parade in Baku, marking the fifth anniversary of Victory in the Patriotic War.
Sharif commended President Ilham Aliyev for his leadership, stating, “You achieved peace through skillful diplomacy.” He expressed his admiration for the Azerbaijani people, adding, “Today, my heart is filled with pride. Because I see here the strong Azerbaijani people celebrating a magnificent event with great enthusiasm and patriotic passion."
“Throughout the entire struggle for the liberation of its lands, Pakistan stood like a rock beside brotherly Azerbaijan, and it will continue to do so,” Sharif stressed.
The Prime Minister said that Azerbaijan's Victory in Karabakh became a magnificent triumph of justice and a source of hope for all peoples fighting for sovereignty and self-determination.
The Pakistani Prime Minister also praised the military display, particularly the JF-17 fighter jets flying over Baku. “Watching JF-17 fighter jets soar over the skies of Baku is a source of pride for all of us,” he said.
He emphasised the significance of military cooperation, noting, “To see our victorious armed forces marching alongside their Azerbaijani and Turkish brothers, and to witness JF-17 fighter jets — the symbol of our strong friendship — flying over Baku, is truly a proud sight.”
Sharif also highlighted the remarkable return of former internally displaced persons to their homes in Karabakh: “Witnessing the return of internally displaced families to Karabakh, to their homelands, is inspiring. Dear brother Mr. President, this is a great symbol of your strong personal commitment to the welfare and progress of the Azerbaijani people."
The Prime Minister added that the incredible pace of reconstruction in the pearl of Karabakh – Shusha, Khankendi, Fuzuli, Lachin, and all other liberated territories – is truly phenomenal.
