Pan-African activist reflects on Baku conference addressing French neo-colonialism
Kémi Séba recently shared his insights on social media regarding the international conference focused on French neo-colonialism in Africa, organized by the Baku Initiative Group.
Known as a leading figure in the movement advocating for African independence and sovereignty, Séba attended the conference to lend his voice to the fight against neocolonial powers, Caliber.Az reports.
In his Instagram post, he highlighted the Baku Initiative Group's commitment to supporting movements resisting French neo-colonialism. Séba, who has dedicated 25 years to combating imperialism and addressing racial discrimination faced by Black individuals, expressed his enthusiasm for the conference's goals.
Born in Strasbourg, France, in 1981, Séba has emerged as a prominent leader in the African independence movement. His staunch opposition to French neo-colonial policies led to the French government revoking his citizenship in 2024. Despite this setback, he continues to champion independence movements in France's overseas territories. In a show of support, the President of Niger appointed him as a special advisor, and several African nations have issued him diplomatic passports.
Séba boasts a substantial following on social media, with 1.3 million followers on Facebook, 370,000 on TikTok, 306,000 on Instagram, 280,000 on X, and 230,000 on YouTube.
The conference, which took place recently, attracted representatives from several African countries, including Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Guinea-Bissau, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mauritania, Zimbabwe, and Niger, along with participants from France and the French-controlled island of Mayotte.
