Parliament speaker says Azerbaijan strengthens revenues, widens non-oil sector
Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova stated that Azerbaijan has ensured revenue growth, strengthened its financial reserves and expanded its non-oil sector in recent years.
She made the remarks as the Milli Majlis began discussing the draft bills included in the 2026 budget package, highlighting President Ilham Aliyev’s role in strengthening Azerbaijan’s economic independence and reinforcing the country’s position as the leading state of the South Caucasus, Caliber.Az reports.
Sahiba Gafarova noted that the state budget for 2026 will support the further expansion of the nation’s economic capabilities and the implementation of the “Great Return” state programme.
Economic diversification is advancing steadily, and a new innovative economic model is emerging in Karabakh and East Zangezur, according to the Chairperson of the Milli Majlis.
