Parliamentary cooperation between Azerbaijan, Jordan expands PHOTO

A delegation led by Mazen Torki Saoud Al-Qadi, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, visited Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (Parliament) as part of an official trip to the country.

The Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives first toured the plenary hall of the Milli Majlis. The delegation also visited the memorial hall dedicated to National Leader Heydar Aliyev, where they viewed exhibits reflecting various stages of his life and political activity. Mazen Torki Saoud Al-Qadi also left an entry in the Book of Memory, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

During expanded talks, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova stated that Azerbaijan’s current achievements are the result of the successful domestic and foreign policy of President Ilham Aliyev. She emphasized that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Jordan, as friendly and brotherly countries, have reached a high level, with reciprocal visits and meetings between heads of state playing a key role in strengthening cooperation.

She also highlighted the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries within the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other international platforms.

Gafarova praised the current level of interparliamentary relations, stressing the importance of reciprocal visits and the work of parliamentary friendship groups in further deepening cooperation. She hailed the active participation of the Jordanian parliament in the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, established on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev.

Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives Al-Qadi thanked Azerbaijan for the invitation and hospitality. Sharing his impressions of his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, he noted that relations between the two countries are developing through the initiatives and efforts of their respective heads of state.

Speaking about the importance of the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) being held in Baku, Al-Qadi said the event serves as an important platform for discussing pressing issues.

He also outlined his views on the development of interparliamentary relations, exchange of legislative experience, promotion of investment, humanitarian cooperation, youth engagement, and other areas. He emphasized that the current visit and meeting with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament provide a valuable opportunity to further expand ties between the two legislatures.

The sides also discussed cooperation between parliamentary committees and friendship groups, underlining the importance of continued mutual support in international parliamentary organizations.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
