Party leader: "Armenia wanted to checkmate at UN, but got checkmated"
Head of the Fair Armenia party, lawyer Norayr Norikyan has said that Armenia tried to play chess with the UN Security Council, but failed.
"There is no strategy and we don't know what to do," the lawyer made the statement in an interview with the Armenian 1in.TV channel, according to Caliber.Az.
“First of all, I am far from this idea that the global centres that have their strategic interests in our region have no information about what is going on here. They are very well informed, better even than we are," he noted.
"After the International Court of Justice made the corresponding decision regarding the opening of the Lachin road, as a lawyer, I spoke about the urgent filing of an application and the need to convene the UN Security Council. Later, the ruling power explained that time was required to prepare for this meeting as various corresponding consultations and negotiations with member states were required to make a clear position. We saw this meeting, I would like to say that Armenia got a checkmate without achieving the expected results,” Norikyan said.
