Türkiye confirms its troops unharmed by Iranian missile strikes on US bases
The Turkish Ministry of National Defence has announced that Iran's missile strikes on US bases in Qatar and Iraq had no negative impact on Turkish units stationed in the region.
"There is no adverse situation in our units and forces deployed in the region due to the missile attacks carried out by Iran on US bases in Qatar and Iraq. Necessary security measures have been taken in our units, and we are closely monitoring developments," the ministry said in a statement, Caliber.Az. reports, citing Turkish media.
On June 23, Iran launched a series of missile strikes targeting the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest U.S. military facility in the Middle East, in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities the previous weekend. These U.S. strikes, conducted with B-2 bombers and 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs, targeted Iran’s Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan nuclear sites, escalating a conflict that began on June 13, when Israel initiated military operations against Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure. The Israeli campaign aimed to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, a concern heightened by intelligence suggesting Iran was close to achieving nuclear capability.
