Pashinyan commends progress in Armenia-US relations

03 July 2024 17:17

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed satisfaction with the dynamic progress in Armenian-American relations during a meeting with a delegation of US congressmen led by Republican Senator Roger Wicker, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.

Pashinyan stressed the importance of the recent meeting of the Armenia-US working group on strategic dialogue held in Yerevan, where ways for deepening cooperation were outlined.

The Armenian Prime Minister noted that the US provides effective support to the promotion of democratic reforms in the country, adding that "for the Armenian government, the development of democracy is of strategic importance."

He also added that closer contacts between the governments and parliaments of the two countries are necessary for the development of new, deepened cooperation between Armenia and the US.

The Prime Minister and the congressmen discussed the prospects of expanding political, economic, energy and other ties between the two countries, as well as exchanged views on the discussions on the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Discussions also encompassed processes in the region and Armenia's so-called "Crossroads of Peace" initiative.
