Pashinyan rules out possibility of CSTO mission in Karabakh
Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said that the suggestion of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) peacekeeping mission being stationed in Karabakh was almost impossible.
Citing the Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports that during a press conference the Armenian Prime Minister was asked whether he considers it possible to use the multinational peacekeeping contingent of the CSTO.
Pashinyan noted that there were doubts about the objectivity of some countries of the organization. According to him, they are de-jure allies of Armenia, but de-facto closer to Azerbaijan, developing economic and political relations with it. From this point of view, their arrival would further complicate the situation.
On the question of the extension of the mandate of the Russian peacekeepers or the deployment of other forces after the expiration of the Russian mandate, Pashinyan called not to get ahead of the game.
"It is necessary to assess the results of 4.5 years what happened. Our task is to ensure the security and rights of the people in Nagorno-Karabakh. That is, the goal is important for us. And to achieve this goal you need to use the most effective means", said Pashinyan.
