PM: Azerbaijan works to establish cluster to boost defence exports
Azerbaijan is working to establish a military-industrial cluster that will boost the country’s export potential, Prime Minister Ali Asadov said.
Speaking at the Milli Majlis (Parliament) plenary session, the PM highlighted that strengthening national security and defence capabilities remains a key focus of government spending. In next year’s draft state budget, defence and national security account for about 21% of total expenditures — 8.7 billion manats ($5.1 billion), Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He noted that Azerbaijan’s military industry has been developing at an accelerated pace, with substantial investments directed into the sector for many years.
The prime minister emphasised that Azerbaijan exports military products to many countries.
The prime minister said that President Ilham Aliyev has set the task of creating an industrial cluster to meet both domestic demand and export potential, adding that work in this direction is already underway.
