Pope urged to express attitude to Armenians’ vandalism on Azerbaijani lands
Azerbaijani diaspora activist Asaf Asgar living in Germany has sent his latest appeal to His Holiness Pope Francis.
In response to the call of His Holiness Francis during his speech in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican on the preservation of monasteries and places of religious worship in Karabakh and showing respect to them, the diaspora activist notes that there are no more reasons for such concern, as the Karabakh region, which is the ancestral Azerbaijani land, has been completely cleared of Armenian military formations in line with international law, Caliber.Az informs, citing the press service of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora.
"And in Azerbaijan, committed to centuries-old traditions of tolerance and multicultural values, the preservation of all religions, including the heritage of the Christian faith, is one of the priorities of state policy," Asgar emphasised.
The letter thoroughly draws attention to the fact that during the years of occupation, Armenia destroyed, desecrated and looted historical, cultural and religious monuments belonging to our people in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, that this horrible vandalism of Armenians was directed not only against Islamic monuments but also against Albanian and Orthodox churches in Karabakh. It is emphasised that Armenian terrorist thugs were appointed as spiritual leaders of Karabakh churches.
It recalls that, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, religious monuments were repaired in Paris, Strasbourg, Rome, the Vatican, Berlin, London and Warsaw, that officials of these countries expressed gratitude to the First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva: "Your Holiness, Dear Francis, if The Azerbaijani state repairs churches and parks in Europe, which means it pays high-level attention to religious temples on its territory and controls them."

A diaspora activist called on the Pope to express his attitude to the heinous acts of vandalism committed by Armenians during 30 years in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan: "How do you regard the falsification and seizure by Armenians of churches located in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan belonging to Caucasian Albania? How do you regard the destruction of 65 of the 67 mosques in Karabakh and the keeping of cattle in them? We would very much like you to make a statement on these crimes committed by Armenians in Karabakh. The destruction of mosques in the Karabakh region belonging to Azerbaijan is an insult to Islam and Muslims around the world, and the falsification and seizure of Albanian churches is an insult to the Christian faith and the Udi people living in Azerbaijan".
