The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 7th session of the European Political Community (EPC) summit hosted in Copenhagen, bringing together leaders from across Europe and beyond to discuss key regional and global challenges. The EPC, launched in 2022, serves as a platform for dialogue and cooperation between EU and non-EU countries, with the aim of strengthening political coordination, addressing security concerns, and enhancing resilience in energy and infrastructure.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the summit, holding meetings with European leaders and international partners. His participation underlined Azerbaijan’s growing role in regional diplomacy, energy security, and the peace process in the South Caucasus. In Copenhagen, Aliyev met with President of the European Council António Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, as well as other heads of state and government.
The Azerbaijani leader’s presence highlighted Baku’s commitment to constructive engagement with Europe on energy diversification, transport connectivity, and regional stability. The summit also provided an opportunity for discussions on advancing peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia following the resolution of the Karabakh conflict, as well as deepening ties in trade and strategic partnerships.
