Russia hails Azerbaijan’s role in Iran aid delivery

Russia has expressed its gratitude to Azerbaijan for helping deliver humanitarian aid to Iran, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Evdokimov said.

The ambassador made the statement to journalists in Lankaran, where a plane carrying Russian aid arrived today, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Evdokimov highlighted that the previous day, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone call during which they discussed the delivery of Russian humanitarian assistance.

“Russia requested that Azerbaijan receive the plane, and the request was reviewed and approved by the distinguished Ilham Heydar oghlu within one hour. We are very grateful to the Azerbaijani side,” the ambassador said.
