Prosecution: Evidence confirms Armenian citizens’ involvement in crimes against Azerbaijan

03 November 2025 15:13

On November 3, the trial of Armenian citizens continued at the Baku Military Court with speeches from prosecutors supporting the state's accusation.

Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor General Vusal Aliyev stated that nearly 100 court sessions have been held over the course of the year-long trial, with more than 500 hours spent examining documents and evidence, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azertag.

“The defendants, victims, and witnesses have been questioned. The court has reviewed evidence collected during the preliminary investigation as well as materials presented by the defense. As the prosecution, we believe that the guilt of the defendants in numerous criminal acts committed since 1988 has been proven based on the presented evidence,” Aliyev said.

He noted that the prosecutors’ speech will revisit the charges brought against the defendants, re-examine the evidence of crimes committed by Armenia and its criminal organization, and analyze the role of each accused person in these crimes.

The prosecutor emphasized that those on trial represent only a part of those who took part in committing the numerous crimes in question. The defendants are accused of direct or indirect involvement in offenses committed by the Armenian state and its criminal organization between 1988 and September 20, 2023.

Vusal Aliyev added that the prosecution’s statement consists of six sections.

The first part outlined evidence of the criminal intent behind the occupation of Azerbaijan’s sovereign territories and the formation of a criminal organisation.

Notably, the Armenian citizens are charged with crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes — including the planning and conduct of aggressive war — genocide, violation of the laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing of terrorism, the violent seizure and retention of power, and numerous other offences.
