Putin: Russia ready to defend Belarus in case of aggression
Russian President Vladimir Putin has that the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has no real results and that Poland is considering deploying its military contingent in western Ukraine.
He made the remarks at a meeting with permanent members of the Russian Security Council on July 21, Kommersant reports.
During the Security Council meeting, Putin instructed Foreign Intelligence Service Head Naryshkin to monitor "Poland's plans for Ukraine."
"Kyiv's Western handlers are clearly disappointed with the results of the so-called counter-offensive. Ukraine's mobilisation resource is being depleted. Western weapons stocks are depleted, technological capabilities do not allow them to be replenished quickly. There is information that the Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian military unit is planned to be used for the subsequent occupation of Ukraine," the Russian president said.
Vladimir Putin also called the western territories of Poland "Joseph Stalin's gift to the Poles" and said that the Polish leaders "expect to form a coalition under the NATO umbrella, intervene in the military conflict in Ukraine and tear off a bigger piece of land," that is, "to get a part of the land in Belarus”.
According to him, Russia is ready to defend the Belarusian territory.
