Putin thanks President Aliyev for facilitating humanitarian aid delivery to Iran
Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for assistance in the delivery of humanitarian aid to Iran.
Speaking during a meeting with representatives of international news agencies on the sidelines of the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin praised Baku’s role in enabling the swift organisation of aid deliveries, Caliber.Az reports via Azertag.
“We are very grateful to President Aliyev for helping us send humanitarian aid to Iran. The Azerbaijani side has worked a lot and effectively in this regard, responding instantly to all our requests,” he said, noting that such cooperation was important for alleviating humanitarian challenges.
Putin also underscored that Moscow and Baku are maintaining active dialogue on a range of practical issues, including energy cooperation. According to the Russian president, discussions are ongoing in several specific areas, although he said it was “premature” to disclose further details.
“We will meet with President Aliyev and will definitely discuss everything,” he added, stressing that bilateral relations are developing “in a very positive way.”
Reaffirming the overall trajectory of ties, Putin described Russia and Azerbaijan as having “very good and friendly relations” across both economic and political spheres. He recalled the Declaration on Allied Interaction signed between the two countries in previous years, noting that President Aliyev is working to translate the agreement into concrete areas of cooperation.
