Red Wings to launch direct Batumi flights from 6 additional Russian cities
Russian carrier Red Wings is expanding its flight programme to Georgia, increasing its network to 15 destinations across the country as demand for summer travel grows.
The airline said it will launch direct flights to Batumi from six additional Russian cities — Tyumen, Saratov, Perm, Volgograd, Orenburg and Chelyabinsk — as part of its summer 2026 schedule. The routes will operate from June through October, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.
Red Wings also plans to resume services on the Nizhny Novgorod–Batumi route from June 8, while flights between Novosibirsk and Batumi will restart from May 25. In addition, the carrier intends to increase frequencies on its Sochi–Batumi connection during the May–September peak travel season.
At present, Red Wings already operates flights to Georgia from several Russian cities, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Samara, Krasnodar, Sochi and Ufa.
“With the launch of new routes, Red Wings will operate services to Georgia from a total of 15 Russian cities,” the company said.
Direct air links between Russia and Georgia were restored in May 2023. Several carriers currently operate the routes, including Red Wings, Azimuth and Georgian Airways, which are not subject to Western sanctions.
The expansion comes as discussions continue in Georgia over broadening transport and economic ties with Russia.
While the government’s approach has drawn criticism from opposition groups, Moscow has repeatedly highlighted the importance of such cooperation for supporting Georgia’s economic development.
