Russia, Armenia discuss new military-technical cooperation deal
Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin has said that Russia and Armenia are discussing new agreements in the sphere of military-technical cooperation.
"On some individual contracts there are indeed issues related to the obligations of Russian enterprises to fulfil the state defence order, but these are working points that are resolved in the dialogue between the specialized agencies of Russia and Armenia," the head of the Russian diplomatic mission told TASS.
According to Kopyrkin, almost all the contracts concluded between the two countries in the sphere of military-technical cooperation have been fulfilled in time and with high quality.
The Ambassador stressed that the military-technical cooperation between the two countries has a long tradition and is based on the agreement of June 25, 2013, between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia on the development of military-technical cooperation.
Earlier, Yerevan said that it had not yet received the arms already paid for from Russia, but was ready to resolve the issue in an atmosphere of partnership. The Armenian authorities also said that they intend to diversify their arms purchases. In particular, the republic has started active cooperation with India and France in the defence sector.
