Russia cites phytosanitary rules behind restrictions on Armenian imports
Russia has restricted imports of Armenian products due to phytosanitary regulations, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated.
“This decision was made by our relevant authorities and is due to the need to comply with established phytosanitary rules governing the import of certain types of products into Russia,” Galuzin said on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
He added that specialised agencies would address the issue of replacing the restricted Armenian goods.
Since late May, Russia has progressively restricted imports from Armenia, including flowers, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, leafy greens, strawberries, stone fruits, grapes, pome fruits, eggplants, potatoes, and dried fruits.
In addition, as of June 2, Armenia has been required to suspend certification of live fish and fish products intended for export to Russia.
