Russia: Krasnodar airport reopens after closure on first day of Ukraine war
Krasnodar Airport in Russia, which was closed in February 2022 for security reasons, has resumed operations, said the Russian Ministry of Transport’s Telegram channel.
“Krasnodar Airport is open for flight operations from 09:00 Moscow time (10:00 Baku time) on September 11,” the Ministry of Transport said, according to Caliber.Az.
The airport had been closed since February 24, 2022.
Krasnodar International Airport was among 11 regional airports in southern and central Russia forced to suspend civilian operations on February 24, 2022—the day Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The closures, enacted by the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya), were justified as necessary for air safety due to the proximity of conflict zones and risks from Ukrainian drone strikes and missile activity.
