Some 40,010 COVID-19 cases have been registered in Russia over the past day, which is by 6.3 per cent more than the day before (37,609), and the maximum level since March 14.
Around 3,450 people were hospitalized, which is three per cent more than the previous figure (3,349), Russia’s Kommersant newspaper reports referring to the Operational Headquarters for Combating COVID-19.
During the day, 69 patients died in Russia, which is four people more than yesterday (65). Most of the dead were in Moscow (25) and St. Petersburg (16). In total, 383,496 have died. During the day, 24,222 people recovered, in total - 18,262,350 people.
The Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) recommended “vulnerable groups of the society” in August to wear masks, and advised people in districts in which the incidence exceeds 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants to wear masks too.
Such measures were taken in Tatarstan, Dagestan, Gorny Altai, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Vologda, and Novosibirsk districts. Doctors expect that COVID-19 cases will reach such a level as it was during last winter.
