Russia registers over 46,000 new COVID-19 cases over past day
According to the Operational Headquarters, 46,452 COVID-19 cases have been registered in Russia over the past day - this is the maximum level since March 12.
Then 48,154 cases were revealed in the country, according to Russia’s Kommersant newspaper.
Some 3,912 people were hospitalised in Russia per day. About 81 people have died - this is the maximum level since June 4. Around 43,919 people infected with COVID-19 have been revealed over the past day.
Amid an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in Russia, Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) advised people to wear masks again in the districts where the incidence exceeds 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
People are recommended to wear masks in six districts of Russia, namely, Tatarstan, Dagestan, Gorny Altai, Krasnoyarsk, Vologda, and Novosibirsk. The Gamaleya National Centre of Epidemiology and Microbiology has developed a type of the Sputnik V vaccine adapted to treat the delta and omicron coronavirus strains.
