Russia's Medvedev accuses Biden of provoking West-Russia war

19 January 2025 13:22

Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev has accused outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden of initiating what he describes as a war between the collective West and Russia.

Medvedev shared his views in a Telegram post, lashing out at Biden’s foreign policy and leadership, Caliber.Az informs.

Using the title “The Walking Dead. End of the Season,” Medvedev launched a scathing critique, claiming Biden’s career trajectory transformed from that of an experienced politician to a leader detached from reality.

“On the example of the now departed walking corpse Biden, we can trace how an experienced and not entirely foolish politician (he is indeed very experienced, having held high positions even during the Soviet period) gradually turned into a reality-detached marasmic figure,” Medvedev wrote.

Recalling his earlier interactions with Biden, Medvedev noted: “When I spoke with him, he hadn’t yet developed dementia. What already stood out then was an unhealthy interest in Ukraine, which he explained to me as an assignment from Obama.”

Medvedev argued that Biden’s early focus on Ukraine eventually became an obsessive idea, which he attributed to political missteps, corruption, and poor analysis. “At some point, the old man threw caution to the wind, essentially igniting the collective West’s war with Russia, which nearly escalated into a nuclear conflict with NATO,” he stated.

According to Medvedev, the Biden administration pursued policies harmful to U.S.-Russia relations. While acknowledging that such a war might benefit the U.S. economically, Medvedev criticized the political costs and risks of a catastrophic conflict. He accused Biden of failing to manage the situation effectively, which he claims led to the Democratic Party’s defeat in the elections.

“If Biden’s failure lies in his inadequacy, the blame of his administration is that it deliberately left a severe crisis legacy on the Russian track for its successors. The harmful seeds of Biden's decisions will sprout for a long time,” Medvedev said.

Medvedev expressed doubt about the possibility of improving U.S.-Russia relations, suggesting that normalization might be unattainable for decades—or possibly unnecessary.
“In the current realities, I believe it is fundamentally impossible. And to be completely honest, it’s unclear whether it is even needed at all…” he concluded.
