Russia's Murmansk airports shut down after drone attacks
The authorities in Russia's Murmansk region reported a drone attack on September 11 morning.
As a result, two airports in the region have been shut down – one in Murmansk, the regional capital, and another in the city of Apatity, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"Enemy drones are raiding our region. Please understand the number of restrictions that we have to introduce. Air defence works to destroy enemy drones. Please trust official sources of information and be vigilant," Andrey Chibis, Governor of the Murmansk Region said in a video message.
In fact, three unknown drones were spotted in the Severomorsk area where the main naval base of the Russian Northern Fleet is located. Following that, flight restrictions were imposed on the entire Kola Peninsula.
Additionally, three drones have been shot down in the Murmansk Region. One was approaching from Norway, while the other two were from the Arkhangelsk region. Air defence systems responded to all of them. It is preliminarily reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to attack the Olenya air base.
