Russia to send new cargo shipment to Armenia via Azerbaijan

07 August 2026 10:13

A new shipment from Russia to Armenia will transit through Azerbaijan, with the train scheduled to depart on Saturday from Bilajari Station.

The cargo will consist of eight railcars of wheat and 10 railcars of coal, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The train is scheduled to leave Azerbaijan Railways' (ADY) Bilajari Station at 11:00 a.m. local time (GMT+4) on Saturday before continuing through Azerbaijan en route to Armenia.

Earlier on August 6, a freight train carrying Russian wheat headed to Armenia via Azerbaijan.

The train consisted of 14 freight wagons transporting a total of 979 tons of wheat.

Azerbaijan continues to facilitate the regular transit of grain, fertilisers and other goods to Armenia, expanding the country's supply routes and supporting broader regional economic normalisation.

This development followed the August 2025 initialling of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, mediated in Washington, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's announcement in October 2025 on removing barriers to cargo movement toward Armenia as part of wider regional connectivity initiatives, including the TRIPP project.
