Russian diplomat labels EU’s Borrell “herald of war” Over support for Kyiv’s Kursk strike
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko has sharply criticized Josep Borrell, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, calling him a "herald of war" following Borrell's endorsement of a Ukrainian strike on Russia's Kursk region.
Grushko condemned Borrell's remarks as provocative and aggressive, asserting that Borrell, who is tasked with managing EU foreign policy, has increasingly contributed to escalating tensions rather than promoting peace and security, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"We have long refrained from commenting on Borrell, but it is evident that someone in his position, responsible for both the EU and broader international stability, should not act as a herald of war," Grushko stated.
The criticism comes after Borrell described the Ukrainian Armed Forces' activities in Kursk as an act of "strategic courage."
Borrell also advocated for enhanced air defence systems for Ukraine and the removal of restrictions on Western weaponry used for strikes within Russian territory.
