Russian drone strike in Ukraine kills Azerbaijani national
An Azerbaijani-born resident of Ukraine, Muzaffar Abbasov Sabir oglu, was killed in a Russian drone strike in the Donetsk region. Abbasov, originally from the Khachmaz district of Azerbaijan and born in 1968, lived in the town of Kostyantynivka. He held Ukrainian citizenship.
According to domestic reports, Abbasov died when a Russian drone struck his personal vehicle while he was driving. His body will be repatriated to Azerbaijan for burial.
Kostyantynivka, where he resided, is currently an active combat zone.
On the night of October 4, Russia carried out another massive drone assault on Ukraine, targeting multiple regions, including Chernihiv and Dnipropetrovsk.
The Ukrainian military reported that Russia launched a total of 109 Shahed, Gerber, and other types of attack drones from bases in Bryansk, Orel, Kursk, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Millerovo, along with three Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles fired from the Rostov and Voronezh regions.
Ukraine’s Defence Forces, using aviation, electronic warfare, unmanned systems units, and mobile firing groups, managed to shoot down 73 enemy drones in the country’s northern and eastern regions.
Despite these efforts, three missiles and 36 attack drones struck 21 locations, while downed drones or debris were recorded at four additional sites.
The war in Ukraine has now entered its 1,319th day since Russia’s full-scale invasion began.
