Russian peacekeepers have begun withdrawing troops from the temporary deployment zone within Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing news.az.
A video obtained by news.az reveals the initial batch of military equipment, consisting of 24 BTR-82A vehicles, being transported out of Azerbaijan through the Goran railway station. The equipment was then conveyed to Russia via the Yalama border checkpoint.
Earlier statements by Azerbaijani presidential aide and head of the Foreign Policy Department under the Presidential Administration, Hikmat Hajiyev, confirmed that the decision to initiate the early withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers, stationed temporarily in Azerbaijan per the Trilateral Statement signed on November 10, 2020, was jointly made by the presidents of both countries. Hajiyev added that the withdrawal process has already commenced, with the Azerbaijani and Russian Defense Ministries undertaking the necessary measures to facilitate the implementation of this decision.
