Freight train carrying propane to Armenia transits Azerbaijan from Russia UPDATED

A freight train transporting propane from Russia to Armenia has entered Azerbaijan as part of a transit route through the South Caucasus, according to Azerbaijani railway authorities.

The train, consisting of 30 wagons carrying a total of 1,026 tonnes of propane, passed through Balajary railway station before continuing its journey across Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The shipment is scheduled to travel onward through the Buyuk Kesik railway station on the Azerbaijan–Georgia border before transiting Georgia and reaching its final destination in Armenia.

A shipment of Russian propane gas will be transported to Armenia via Azerbaijan in transit, with 30 rail tank cars scheduled to depart today from the Balajari railway station.

Earlier, Russia transported 976 tonnes of wheat to Armenia via Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

To date, Azerbaijan's transit corridor has facilitated the delivery of more than 35,000 tonnes of grain, nearly 8,000 tonnes of fertiliser, 133 tonnes of aluminium, 68 tonnes of buckwheat and 414 tonnes of anthracite from Russia to Armenia.

In addition, Azerbaijan has exported more than 14,000 tonnes of diesel fuel and close to 5,000 tonnes of RON 92 and RON 95 gasoline to Armenia.
