Russian translation of Ayatollah Khamenei’s autobiography to be released
The first Russian-language translation of the autobiography of Iran’s late supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, will go on sale in Russia this month, according to the publishing house AST.
Originally published in Arabic in 2019 and later in Persian, Cell No. 14: The Autobiography of Ayatollah Khamenei covers the first half of Khamenei’s life, from his childhood through the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
After the revolution, Khamenei held a number of senior political and religious positions before becoming Iran’s supreme leader in 1989.
AST told Russian broadcaster RTVI that the Russian edition will be released nationwide in April, although an exact publication date has not yet been announced.
The book was translated from Persian by Russian writer and literary critic Alexander Andryushkin, who is known for his work on Iranian literature.
Khamenei was killed at the age of 86 in a U.S.-Israeli strike on February 28. He was succeeded last month by his son, Mojtaba Khamenei.
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences following the killing, describing it as a “cynical assassination.”
